00:00The Department of Environment and Natural Resources, or DENR, has completed the draft of the National Flood Management Framework.
00:08The initiative is intended as a long-term solution to the country's flooding problem.
00:13According to the DENR, instead of addressing flooding, only after it occurs,
00:18the framework aims to integrate flood management into national development
00:23through an integrated water resources management approach.
00:26Under this framework, flooding is viewed as a potential source of water for irrigation, water supply, and other uses.
00:34It will also serve as a guide to link the projects of various agencies such as the DPWH and NIA,
00:41as well as the land-use planning of local government units.
