00:00The Department of Environment and Natural Resources, or DENR, has ordered the closure of the collapsed landfill in Barangay Binaliou, Cebu City.
00:10According to a statement from DENR Central Visayas, a cease and desist order was issued to the landfill operator, Prime Integrated Waste Solutions Incorporated.
00:20The order is based on the findings of the DENR Environment Management Bureau, or EMB Region 7, following their site inspection.
00:30As a result, all sanitary landfill operations, including the acceptance of solid waste, are immediately ordered to cease, with the exception of the ongoing rescue, retrieval, and cleanup operations.
00:42The company has also been summoned to a technical conference in order to submit a compliance plan within 90 days.
00:50Based on the latest update from the Cebu City Fire Station, 11 fatalities have been confirmed, while 25 individuals are still missing.
