Here’s a run through the Anno 117: Pax Romana demo, but this time we’re starting out in Albion — the Celtic frontier at the edge of the Roman Empire. This video covers the full intro cutscene and those first few minutes of gameplay so you can see how different the Albion start feels compared to Latium.
If you’ve sunk time into Anno 1800 gameplay, played through a full Anno 1800 campaign, or checked out some of the Anno 1800 DLCs, you’ll notice similarities. But Albion throws in its own flavour — smaller settlements, Celtic design touches, and a different path through the Pax Romana.
It’s not just “copy and paste” from Anno 1800 either. The developers are layering in cultural choices, optional needs, and unique province mechanics. That’s what gives Albion its own vibe and makes it interesting to compare with the Roman heartlands.
Anyone who’s seen Anno 2205 gameplay or tried the older entries will spot the evolution here. New players, though, get a pretty gentle entry point — the cutscene sets the tone, and you’re not dropped into the deep end.
