00:00The new modified work schedule of employees in local government offices in Metro Manila is now effective.
00:06This is also due to the improved resolution of the Metro Manila Council
00:10which is far from being able to handle the heavy traffic, especially in EDSA.
00:15Benji Durango has the details.
00:20For example, Lea and Thelma were present early in the City Hall.
00:23They started their day at 7 am.
00:25Less traffic.
00:26Because there was no traffic, they didn't look like they were in a hurry.
00:30Lea was riding a motorcycle while Thelma was in a car.
00:32They left the house at 6.40 am but they arrived at the office fresh.
00:36What's even better is that they had more time with their family because they went home at 4 pm.
00:43So Lea asked me, is there a forever?
00:50But here in Caloocan, only half of the number of employees are going to work from 7 to 4.
00:55Others are still working from 8 to 5.
00:56While others are still working from 8 to 7.
00:58This is based on the Metro Manila Council Resolution No. 24-08, Series of 2024
01:03where it will be done from 7 am to 4 pm by the employees of the local government offices in NCR
01:10so that the traffic will be reduced.
01:12But the Civil Service Commission is appealing.
01:14They said that it shouldn't close at 4 pm.
01:16So here in Caloocan, they just split it.
01:18There is a slight complaint but it is understandable.
01:21Everything has really changed.
01:24In fact, since this morning, a lot of people have been calling me.
01:27Quezon City also did the same thing.
01:29But they reduced the number of employees to 3 ships.
01:32Aside from 7 to 4, they also have 8 to 5 and 9 to 6
01:36so that their clients can serve them all the time.
01:39Even though other cities changed their hours, Valenzuela hasn't.
01:43For us, there is a peculiarity.
01:46I don't know if it's the same for other LGUs.
01:49When we surveyed, 90 percent of our employees in City Hall live around the vicinity.
01:56There is not much effect on the major roads.
01:59But they still want to try this in their other jobs.
02:02We are preparing certain offices where it is possible to have a trial session of 7 to 4.
02:11Others who have direct transactions with national offices will retain the 5 pm.
02:18If this will continue, we will have no difference with New York.
02:229 to 5 for them, 7 to 4 for us.
02:24But at least, you are fresh in and out of work.
02:28You are able to help your colleagues.
02:30But I also believe in the wisdom that let's try.
02:34Because our traffic situation is really getting worse.
