Surah Ash-Shams (Arabic: الشمس, "The Sun") is the 91st chapter (Surah) of the Qur'an. This Surah focuses on the moral and spiritual lessons to be learned from the signs of Allah in the universe. It swears by the sun and its brightness, the moon as it follows the sun, the day as it shows the sun's glory, the night as it covers it, the sky and the One Who built it, the earth and the One Who spread it, the soul and the One Who perfectly proportioned it. It then discusses the success of the one who purifies the soul and the failure of the one who corrupts it.
