KTXH (UPN20) is the UPN affiliate in Houston, Texas. 20 KTXH began broadcasting on the air as Channel 20 on November 7, 1982, as an independent station known as "20 Vision." They were the second station owned by Grant Broadcasting. They broadcast a general entertainment format of cartoons, vintage off network sitcoms, off network dramas, old movies, westerns, and sports.
In 1984 Grant Broadcasting sold both KTXH 20 and KTXA 21 Dallas/Fort Worth to Gulf Broadcasting so they could finish building 33 WBFS Miami which they would sign on shortly after these two stations were sold.
Gulf Broadcasting also owned 10 KTSP Phoenix, (which they had just bought in 1983 and was formerly known as KOOL TV), 8 WGHP Greensboro/High Point, and 10 WTSP Tampa. Weeks after Gulf bought KTXH and KTXA they sold the Television broadcasting division to Taft Broadcasting.
