Growing up in the 80's attending dancces held at the Church of Ascension. Yes! Actually inside the main building in the front foyer! No community center back then! Of course many other locations were host to dances such as St. Pius, Indian Lakes, Green Run Clubhouse, St. Gregory's Gym, Benedict Hall, Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge, VFW among others... Early generation from 1981-1982 that started with the FAYAT group (Filipino American Youth Association of Tidewater) to mid generations like whoever was running for Miss Phillipines, Miss Ilocandia and the like from 1983-1986, to later generations 1986-1991, that some would just already have their own group and fund raise a dance almost anywhere. <br /> <br />This one decade captured in time! No cell phone. No internet. A place to find music, friends, news, and the latest! It was the social network of the 80's!
