When DALTON JOINER, a young soldier in Vietnam, gets dumped by his hometown girlfriend JANE, he vows to sneak home during the war to win her back. His best buddy, MICKEY WRIGHT, never one to miss out on a wild time, decides to go with him. They must get back to America, change her mind and return to the war without getting caught. The two soldiers end up at the University of Michigan, where they find JANE, now JUNIPER, and her stunning and passionate new friend CANDACE, right in the heart of the counter culture - and the anti-war movement. En 1969, au moment de la mission Apollo 11 mission, US-soldat Dalton Joiner, les combats dans la guerre du Vietnam , utilise son temps de R & R censé être passé à Hong Kong, pour rentrer aux États-Unis pour re-capturer le coeur de la sa petite amie Jane. Fellow soldat Mickey Wright l’accompagne. Jane se Juniper appelle maintenant, et est membre d’un groupe d’activistes anti-guerre. Joiner et Wright prétendre qu’ils sont AWOL , et sont admirés par le groupe pour que, jusqu’à ce qu’il soit révélé qu’ils avaient l’intention de retourner dans le temps. Jane brise (encore une fois) avec Joiner, qui fait de lui décident de se réfugier au Canada. Wright tombe en amour avec Candace, mais retourne au Vietnam....
