Dr. Paulin Mery died from burns on his hand which resulted from his work with X-rays. The 53-year-old doctor had continued with his practice, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Mrs Besnard requested the allowance her father-in-law previously paid be increased, and the court agreed, to the tune of $1200 a year.
