An 18-year-old graduates from college and has plans for a Ph.D.
Usually when teenagers turn 18, they start their college life. One bright student, however, is on an accelerated path.
On May 11th 2013, Raymond Walter graduated from the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences with, not one major, but three. He has obtained bachelor of science degrees in physics, economics and mathematics.
And Walter is only 18 years of age. He also has a severe form of muscular dystrophy, which confines him to wheelchair. Walter stated “I don’t anticipate living as long as usual. In some respects, there is a lot of pressure to get as much done as I can. I don’t waste time. I skipped three years of grade school and to some extent I’ve continued my acceleration since I reached the university level.”
Walter, who graduated from high school when he was only 14 years of age, plans to continue his education, working on doctoral degrees in both physics and mathematics at the University of Arkansas.
In another recent stories relating to young prodigies, a 5-year-old boy in Illinois, named Gus Dorman was declared to have an IQ of 147.
