An injured dog that survived Superstorm Sandy is gearing up for adoption.

After living through the horrifying Superstorm Sandy, an injured dog is now ready to find a new home.

The 6-year-old pooch named “Midnight” was found wandering a battered beach in Brooklyn, during the worst part of the storm.

A woman, named Mary discovered Midnight and tried to help him, taking the dog to the New York City Board of Health. However workers noticed a bite mark on Midnight and told the good Samaritan that he would either have to be put down for rabies testing or quarantined.

Mary couldn’t afford the boarding fee, but she also didn’t want Midnight to be euthanized. Fortunately Central Veterinary Associates took the dog in for only $5 while a rescue organization paid the remaining fees.

After 6 months of recovery, Midnight is now slated to be put up for adoption, as no one has come forward to claim him.

Recently, an Air Force Staff Sgt. Tom Burright was reunited with his puppy from Afghanistan, Lyla. When Burright realized he couldn't afford to take Lyla with him back home, he placed a call to the Puppy Rescue Mission and by the next morning got the news that they had raised the money.
