[EDIT: (1/16/16) I only interpret the relationship between Cyrus and Dawn as platonic now. The normalization and romanticization of ships such as those between adults and children creates an environment in which pedophilia and sexual abuse are excused and/or justified.
I'm leaving this specific video up since it's supposed to be an unrequited crush on the part of the child character and depicted as unhealthy besides, but I do not condone adult/child ships and am ashamed of my past self's ignorance on the subject. No, "aging up" a child does not magically make the ship better nor does the fact that they are fictional characters mean it is acceptable, and these being common practices and arguments in fandom does not mean I should have accepted them without question.
Yes, there is a difference between fiction and reality, but they still have undeniable influences upon each other. "Ship and let ship" may be the common refrain, but there are real consequences to having these be treated as normal or glorified without question. I no longer support such ships and encourage viewers to be aware and not dismiss these issues as "SJW nonsense." There are real people being hurt by the casual acceptance of such ships, and I do not wish to promote this any longer.

I know this is an odd ship and an unpopular interpretation of it, but I've always liked the idea of Dawn being the one obsessed with Cyrus. He's not interested, though, and she gets creepy. Typical love story.
