Help Wanted: Polar Bear Spotter

Help is wanted for a polar bear spotter.

Looking for a new job? Maybe one with a little adventure that allows you to work outdoors?

If relocating isn’t a big deal for you, consider the Polar Bear Spotter position posted by the governor’s office of The Svalbard Islands.

The area, located in the Arctic Ocean between the North Pole and Norway, boasts a polar bear population of 3000. There are 2400 human residents on the islands.

They need a person who will watch for and alert workers to approaching polar bears.

The position starts in July, so the islands will be experiencing summertime temps of around 40 degrees Fahrenheit. To perform the job itself you’ll need either a loud voice or to be handy with firearms so you can scare the bears off.

The Svalbard Islands have one of the only growing polar bear populations in the world.

Other wildlife you may encounter includes reindeer, seals, and walrus.

Popular summer sights and activities are glacier watching, skiing, and kayaking.
