Dummy Security Under Fire After Shooting

Dummy security guards are under fire following a shooting.

Dummy security is thought to be a cheap way to thwart criminals. Well, fake safety guards are now coming under scrutiny after a tragic event in Detroit. A woman was recently shot in a hotel room at the Corktown Inn.

In the parking lot of the establishment is a fake stuffed security guard sitting in the front seat of a red truck. Wearing a hat, the face is comprised of duct tape while the mouth is a straight line drawn by a magic marker.

Reportedly real guards work at the inn on the weekends. Given the unrealistic looks and fact that they are completely useless in the event of a criminal act, the shooting has many people questioning why it is at the hotel in the first place.

It remains unclear whether a human security worker was on duty at the time of the shooting.

Recently, the city of Bangalore in India became home to cardboard cops. The idea to use cutouts was introduced by the human traffic police in the city.

The thought behind them is that Indian drivers will only slow down and behave when they see the realistic looking, cardboard law enforcement officers.
