MGM Plans Major New Development in Las Vegas

The New York-New York and Monte Carlo hotels in Las Vegas are slated for alteration.

There are few travel destinations bigger than Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas strip will soon showcase some major new development and more open space.

The faces of the the New York-New York and Monte Carlo hotels will be altered. Another modification includes an expansive outdoor plaza housing new shops and eateries which are expected to open in early 2014.

New York-New York’s iconic exterior, including a copy of the Brooklyn Bridge, will be changed to allow room for a new addition - a two-story structure housing Hershey’s Chocolate World.

The plaza will be built ahead of MGM Resorts International’s plans to develop a large arena behind the two hotels.

As a part of the area's project, MGM Resorts International will also be building a park and promenade outside of the Monte Carlo and the New York-New York hotels.

Featuring trees, benches, shops and vendor food trucks, the outdoor space was inspired by Madison Square Park in the real New York.
