This month, on March 2nd 2013, nearly 900 dogs were rescued from the dog meat trade and taken to Chongqing Small Animal Protection Association, Mr Chen's shelter.
These dogs will need medical attention and food.
Chongqing Small Animal Protection Association (CSAPA) was established in 2005 by Mr. Chen Ming Cai, and since then there have been thousands of dogs rescued from the meat trade and taken to his shelter. The dogs are cared for by Chen and his wife with the help of the volunteers. The maintenance of the shelter mostly comes from donations by loving people.
Hand in Hand With Asia's Animal Activists have told Mr Chen and his staff that many people in the West have been moved by his actions to save cats and dogs from trucks going to slaughter. We told him that people want to help. Mr Chen was so overwhelmed to discover that people from all over the world knew of his work to end the suffering for animals in his country. We told him that the West will stand by his side and help him to feed and care for the cats and dogs.
