Software Scans Facebook for Gun Pictures

A new software scans Facebook for gun pictures.
The majority of adolescents have a Facebook page. Teenagers can easily block parents from some content but a new software is letting moms and dads keep an eye on their kids' facebook activity.
Eye-Guardian initially scanned social networking pages for references to violence, cursing, sexual content and bullying. The technology has recently expanded to include guns.
The software will seek any online photos of adolescents holding or posing with firearms. If a suspicious image is found, the program will report to whoever is monitoring the page.
Interestingly, the software can reportedly differentiate between innocent gun toting pictures and images that just don’t seem right. A photo depicting a hunting trip or other family, weapon-yielding event won’t be flagged.
Facebook has been in the news a lot regarding privacy concerns. Last year, it was reported that that the social media site was scanning chat conservations.
Scanning software monitored chats for suspicious content like exchange of personal information or curse words. If anything is flagged, Facebook security employees look over the chat and determine whether or not police should be informed.
