In this tutorial we continue with the development of our website, we will create html files for all the links in our navigation area. We will then create an editable region of our page, a main area that will be editable on every raw page.

When designing a website its important to have a template, a raw page that you can use as you design other pages within your website, in this tutorial we will create a template to use as we develop other pages within our website.

As explained in the tutorial, only the editable region will be editable on each of our pages, the logo, navigation and footer will be locked, if you wish to make any changes to any of the aforementioned this must be done via the template itself, the template will then automatically update all the pages within your website.

As an example, if you want to include an additional link to your navigation area and you have have a 100 page website, if your navigation area is editable you will be required to update every one of the 100 pages individually, however if your navigation area is locked and only editable via the template, as soon as you make a change via the template you are prompted to updates site, this will automatically update every page on your website.

A template should be viewed as the master control of not only your navigation area but your header logo and footer also, these three areas rarely change from page to page, but if you do make a change its important for the change to apply to all of your web pages.
