Children and adults gunned down in Connecticut school massacre | 3rd Grader describes shooting

A shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Ct is reported on Friday morning Dec. 14, 2012, here is a time line of the early reports by the media via the Internet and live from Fox News in New York and Ct. The shooting started at 9:40 a.m. when a gunman carrying two guns made his way into the school with two guns and started shooting.

10: 45 a.m.: A shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Ct. on Friday morning has "numerous injuries" now reported, according to Fox News Live on Friday, Dec.14, 2012. Two ambulances are on the scene with Waterbury Ct. sending more ambulances to the school. The school is on lock-down, but the reports that one shooter is dead and possibly another shooter that's unaccounted for are not confirmed.

A teacher was shot and is being transported to the hospital, reports Fox News. The school is on lock-down, as are other schools in Newtown for a precaution. Hartford Courant is also reporting multiple injuries including a teacher that was shot. A dispatcher with the Newton Ambulance reports a teacher was transported to Danbury Hospital with a gunshot wound.

11 a.m.: Fox News reports possibly two shooters were at the school with one shooter dead and one at large. The Ct. Post reports witness report that police carried out one wounded child out of the school. Danbury Hospital has been alerted to be ready for victims of this shooting.

Police are asking parents to stay away from the school, but a line of parents is already forming outside the school. They are asked to stay by the phone. Danbury Hospital has received 3 people so far and Bridgeport Hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital have been put on stand-by.

11:30 a.m.: The Hartford Courant reports that one shooter is dead and earlier reports of two shooters are unconfirmed. Groups of children crying and holding hands as they are being escorted away from this school are also reported by eye witnesses today. The school children are in kindergarten through fourth grade, so these are young kids. The school has 700 students.

12:15 p.m.: Lt. Paul Vance with the Connecticut State Police said, “This is one of the worst multiple shootings that Ct has seen in a very long time,” according to Fox News Live. Reports of multiple dead including at least one child are now coming in. Again other than what Lt. Vance said, there is no official word yet. Reports are coming from eyewitnesses who said the shooter walked into the Kindergarten room shooting. Children are reporting they were told to go outside and “run” to the firehouse,” which is adjacent to the school grounds.
