New Popemobiles are hand delivered to the Pope.

The Popemobiles are consistently used to transport the Pope through the streets safely, while allowing residents to see him up close.

Recently the chairman of Daimler hand delivered two new specially made vehicles to the Pope.

The chairman states “It is an honor for Mercedes-Benz to be accompanying His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI on his future journeys with our new Popemobile" 'For more than 80 years now, popes have been able to rely on the quality, safety and comfort of our Mercedes-Benz vehicles”.

The new vehicles have bigger glass panels, allowing for more visibility and built in thrones. The Pope recently took a cruise in one of the Popemobiles for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

Earlier this year, a Popemobile from the past was brought back to life. The Irish Popemobile underwent a $77,000 makeover. This vehicle was originally used in 1979 during Pope John Paul II's visit to Ireland.

As a business venture, the van is now be available to rent regardless of one's religious affiliation. The vehicle possesses a Mercedes chassis and houses 15 seats for passengers including the original "Pope's chair".
