A man has been arrested for keeping kittens inside of his freezer.

It's hard not to like cats, particularly kittens. They are often a family's most cherished pets. But not always.

A St. Petersburg resident, Rodney J. Blanchard was recently arrested after 6 week-old kittens were found in his freezer’s bottom shelf in individual sandwich bags. One female kitten was found deceased, while three others, all males were discovered alive.

According to the police report, a woman was visiting Blanchard ‘s home when he asked her to get a beer. When she did not find any beer, Blanchard told her there were kittens in the freezer. She saw them and tried to take them out, but Blanchard pushed her away and told the woman to leave. She left and contacted the sheriff’s department.

Earlier this year, a 39-year-old man, Eric Gaskin from Washington D.C. was facing legal charges of felony animal cruelty for allegedly brutally declawing two baby kittens. Both baby cats had to be euthanized.

Should there be stricter guidelines for pet ownership?
