‘Devi’ literally means ‘Goddess’; and in this exhibition I have portrayed the feminine form as God-like. ...

In a society when the women are generally looked upon as the weaker gender with not much role in society apart from giving birth and nurturing the young ones while taking care of the domestic chores, I have given a new meaning to their existence in the hope that they will be more valued in society. In this exhibition named ‘Devi’, I have portrayed women as strong and powerful, drawing inspiration from ancient Indian mythology.

‘Devi’ literally means ‘Goddess’; and women are no less than an incarnation of the same. It is awe-inspiring how they manage the various spheres of life without so much as one word of dissatisfaction or longing for other things in life. So these acrylic paintings showcased in the exhibition gives expression to their almost divine powers. The feminine form is also divine in their delicate and beautiful form, and my paintings celebrate this divinity. In most of my paintings here, you will see a woman figure holding a ‘trishul’ (a weapon) which symbolises the power of women not only to give life but also to destroy. This is one of the themes that are very close to my heart, and it was a great success as well with many paintings sold and huge accolades received.
