STORY:
Elephant dung is converted into Eco Friendly paper. This novel and unique project has been conceived by the Kerala Forest Department.
The department is making file boards and paper carry bags using the elephant dung at its Konny elephant yard near Pathanamthitta district of Kerala Southern India. The place is about 100 kiliometers away from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram International airport .
This unique mission was commissioned a month ago. Currently the unit is making an average of 100 such paper sheets a day.
They are using a simple technology for this endeavor. The dung is mixed with water in a machine which gives a mixture of fiber that helps to make paper sheets. From elephant dung the forest department makes bio gas and the fiber is being converted into Eco friendly paper.
The department has claimed that it is the first of its kind in India.
