A truck driver is issued an animal neglect citation after putting his puppy in a newspaper rack.

A 41 year old male truck driver stopped for lunch at a fast food joint in Lincoln Nebraska, but wasn’t sure what to do with his 2 month old pup.

Knowing he couldn’t take it inside the food establishment and not wanting to leave the small dog in the truck, he put the puppy in a newspaper rack.

However, another man saw the young pooch in the newspaper box and put in $1 to get it out and called Animal Control who cited the owner for animal neglect. Surprisingly, he was allowed to keep the pup, as he told officials he only wanted to keep it safe.

Earlier this year, another dog owner was cited for animal neglect. A 37-year-old woman, from Oregon reportedly left her pooch alone in a vehicle on a day that hit an excruciating 96 degrees.

The pooch was left unattended without water for approximately 45 minutes. The dog was taken to a clinic for treatment and the woman faced a misdemeanor charge of second-degree animal neglect.
