00:00Welcome to Fan Reviews, I'm Travis Oscarson here at MovieCo, the world's premiere movie experience.
00:18I'm here in the D-Box section where it's about to fill up. Everyone's coming to see J.J. Abrams' Super 8.
00:25Can it deliver on all the hype? We're going to find out for you right now.
00:30Summer has officially kicked off. I mean, J.J. Abrams, Steven Spielberg, you don't get much bigger than that. But how was Super 8?
00:52It was quite excellent. It was so good. I jumped in so many parts. It was incredible. I loved it. It was pretty freaky.
00:58It reminded me of the classic, you know, E.T. vibe, which is super hard to pull off.
01:03J.J. Abrams' little hit or miss, and I think he did really well with this one.
01:07You guys actually got to experience it in D-Box, so you were moving around with the movie. How was it?
01:12It was so cool when you're shaking around at the train crash.
01:16I thought the effects in the film were incredible, and the D-Box just made it even more, like, better.
01:22I really didn't know what to expect, and I was completely lost in it the whole time, like, in a good way.
01:27As the mom, it was amazing, riveting, and believe me, my heart jumped out of my chest, like, four times. It was unbelievable.
01:35Really well done. It had a lot of subtlety to it that I really, really appreciated.
01:39Everyone's really excited here, too.
01:41Definitely. It was like, you know, it was all pumped up, and it was just, you were in the zone.
01:46I didn't know anyone in it, but I loved it. It was, they did a great job. Great kid actors. Awesome.
01:50A lot of big roles for such young kids. I was amazed, honestly.
01:55The kids did a great job.
01:56Who was your favorite?
01:57Um, the main character, the boy.
02:00We loved Carrie. We were just talking about it. The one with the firecrackers and the fireworks.
02:04He was funny, huh?
02:05Oh, he was wonderful. He was great.
02:07Perfect, perfect sidekick.
02:09They casted that film beautifully.
02:11So is Elle Banning the new Dakota Banning?
02:13No, she's better.
02:14Maybe. Maybe better. I don't know. She was really good.
02:16I think she's better.
02:18She can be, because she tries harder and pursue her career.
02:22And stays away from Twilight movies.
02:23Yeah.
02:25Her acting within her acting was even good, so that was, that was kind of pleasant.
02:29We got to experience this, the old school Spielberg movies in the theaters.
02:33Is it cool for the younger generation to see that kind of filmmaking?
02:36Oh yeah, absolutely. I mean, it's something that really they went back and that was my era,
02:40where I grew up with all the music and everything, so I was right in there.
02:44And they actually got to see a taste of it, so it was really fabulous.
02:47Don't give any spoilers away, but do we get to see whatever that is in there?
02:52We do get to see it, and it's, it's not disappointing.
02:55I knew what I wanted, but I didn't know what I was going to get, and I loved what I got,
02:58so that was really nice.
02:59It is very satisfying in the end.
03:01I thought it was good. They did a good job of concealing it long enough for you.
03:04Did it take too long though?
03:06Um, I don't think so, because I thought it stayed scary that way.
03:09So with all the mystery, all the hype, it was worth it for you?
03:12Yeah, I think the rating on Rotten Tomatoes was pretty accurate.
03:16This is one of the top movies for the summer.
03:19Was this the summer movie you've been waiting for?
03:21Oh yeah, it's a blockbuster, and I think they're all going to Twitter it and Facebook,
03:24so it'll be crowded all weekend.
03:25Better returns, more than you're anticipating.
03:28So better than the finale of Lost?
03:30Much better than the finale of Lost.
03:32Was the payoff better than the finale of Lost?
03:36Definitely better payoff. I enjoyed it a lot.
03:39Now you're probably still wondering, is Super 8 a prequel to Cloverfield?
03:43Well, you're going to have to see the movie to find out that answer.
03:46If you want to experience Super 8 and my favorite place to see a movie,
03:50go to movieco.com.
03:53What the hell?
