The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or
RSPCA in UK received a report on August 11th, claiming that an 8-year-old male had put his neighbor’s cat into a microwave. The homeowner claimed that he was on the second floor of his Rochester home when he heard the telltale sound of the microwave in use.
He ran downstairs and saw the child watching the cat inside the microwave.
The child was brought to the police station, however criminal charges cannot be brought against him due to his young age. The cat did survive the horrific ordeal, however it may have encountered internal problems.
An RSPCA official states, “This was an absolutely horrendous incident and all the more shocking because of the alleged involvement of such a young child.”
Several years ago, two teenage boys in Pennsylvania were arrested after placing a cat inside a microwave. The boys, aged 15 and 16 also threw the kitten out of a window and were charged with animal cruelty. Fortunately, the cat managed to survive.
