Pennsylvania Mall Survives Visit By Two Bears - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.

The Pittsburgh Mills mall in Frazer, Pennsylvania recently encountered a different breed of customers, when two bears appeared on the shopping center’s property. The first bear arrived Saturday night, twenty minutes before closing time and entered the Sears store after triggering the automatic doors. The shop was evacuated, when the one year old female bear weighing roughly 125 pounds darted into the store. She went on to walk the aisles before police caught up and tranquilized her. The bear was reportedly wearing a collar with tracking capabilities, but law enforcement has yet to determine where she originated from.

The second bear emerged on mall grounds the same night, less than two hours after the first one was captured. Shortly before midnight, the approximately 250 pound bear targeted the Olive Garden parking grounds and nearby dining establishments, where employees were asked to leave. Officials were unable to catch the bear, but the animal made another appearance Sunday on Route 28 after trying to cross the roadway, causing traffic to back up.
