Inflation in Spain held steady in June at a 21-month low.

That is well below the eurozone average and signals consumer spending is falling in the recession mired economy.

Consumer prices were 1.9 percent up on the same month a year earlier, the same as in May.

The inflation level also reflected falling oil prices.

It hit 3.5 percent in April 2011, a two-and-a-half-year record.
