An Alaskan couple is auctioning off a handmade certificate of gratitude on eBay for $5,000 dollars.
According to the listing, the pair had obtained new, better paying positions in Texas within the last year, but with no housing available in the new location, they decided their only option was to fix up an old RV and make that their temporary home.
During one of their test drives, the water pump, which had been rebuilt, overheated and broke. They had to use the money they had saved to fund the trip to repair the RV and to pay additional rent on the apartment they had given up. They were not able to get their old employers to re-hire them or to find new positions in Alaska.
They also were not eligible for any governmental assistance. Basically, they are stuck in Alaska.
Known as 1brokecouple2012, the couple is offering their framed gratitude to a Good Samaritan “as a daily reminder of their generosity and that they have forever bettered the lives of two people.”
