Outgoing Serbian president Boris Tadic looks to become the country's next prime minister.
Tadic lost his bid for re-election to conservative nationalist Tomislav Nikolic one week ago.
The two met on Monday with a view to Tadic leading talks on forming a coalition.
The position of prime minister is stronger than the largely ceremonial role of the president.
