Japan is proud is show off their newest structure, the ‘Tokyo Skytree’, recently declared by Guinness World Records to be the World’s Tallest Tower. Up until 2011, The Canton Tower in China held the Tallest Tower record.

Essentially filling the shoes of the infamous Tokyo Tower, the 2080 feet tall Tokyo Skytree will primarily be used for radio and television transmissions, as well serve as an exciting tourist attraction.

Thousands of citizens and tourists anxiously waited for the tower’s opening through extreme winds and rain.

Part of a 1.8 billion dollar construction proposal, The Tokyo Skytree took 4 years to complete and is encompassed by shops and visually appealing office buildings making it no mystery as to why tourists flock to the development. The tower serves as a symbol of Japan’s revitalization, constructed with the idea to have a structure that would be as immune from natural disasters as possible.

Giving towers around the globe running competition for beauty and innovation, ‘Skytree Tower’ is certainly a winner in Japanese architecture.
