One of Australia's famous singers has recognised her dream of helping others. She encourages people of all ages and from all walks of life, to sing together as one voice in her choirs. Our reporter in Melbourne finds out more about the magical power of singing and the talented Tania de Jong.

The extraordinary sound of 13 choirs singing together is reverberating though the Melbourne Town Hall.

At the helm of all these choirs is Tania de Jong, a young lady whose passion it is to inspire people to find their own voice.

[Tania de Jong, Founder Creativity Australia]:
"Your voice is symbolic of who you are, so when you find your voice, you find your purpose."

Tania is the founder of Creativity Australia, a non-for profit organization that creates and supports these choirs.

Singing together is a joyful experience and helps to overcome cultural differences.

[Xiao Rong Nheu, Choir Member]:
"Tania is a very nice person, she does not discriminate between Asian people, the race -she does not discriminate. She gives us a lot of confidence, me coming here, I'm very happy."

[...]

[Tania de Jong, Founder Creativity Australia]:
"There are many people in our choirs who have suffered incredible tragedies that we couldn't even imagine. And, who this choir is, it's like a beacon of hope, light and joy."

Nathalie, a refugee from Africa, has gained a sense of belonging and a job through joining the choir.

[Tania de Jong AM, Founder Creativity Australia]:
"She feels that she's part of something bigger than herself. So she's able to transcend some of the really huge issues in her life that she's faced - like her sister was massacred in front of her eyes and she brings up her sister's child."

And what is the magic for those who listen?
