Faceoff: Buying vs. Adopting a Dog - as part of the series on dogs and pets by GeoBeats.

Buying a dog or adopting - which is better?

If cuteness is important, you are better off buying one from a store as you'll have the best selection in terms of cute pets.
Round 1 - Buying!

If you decide to adopt, you will likely be saving a life. Many of the dogs are euthanized if they are not adopted within a certain time period.
Round 2 - Adopting!

When buying from a store, you can get a dog at the time you want and you don't have to wait or go through a longer process that adoption may entail.
Round 3 - Buying!

Adopting a dog will cost you lot less money. Usually, it'll be a small fraction of what you'll end up paying at a pet store.
Round 4 - Adopting!

At the pet store, you get the breed of your choice. If you want any unusual or rare breed, you can go to the specific pet store that carries it.
Round 5 - Buying!

When adopting, you can feel better about knowing that you are not supporting a puppy mill.
Round 6 - Adopting!
