Abbas' Assassination Attempt Footage

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas avoided an assassination attempt by Hamas, which was to take place during a planned visit to the Gaza Strip last June. The information, revealed by Abbas himself during an interview published last week in the Egyptian newspapaer Al Ahram, was studied by the commission appointed by Abbas to investigate the circumstances of Hamas' takeover of the Gaza Strip.  In the footage, one can see Hamas operatives planting an explosive device in a tunnel under the road on the planned route Abbas was scheduled to take.  The story was first aired on Israel Radio Director General Yoni Ben Menachem's blog. 07/23/07
