Athens pushed through a tough austerity plan meant to help the country stave off bankruptcy, but the public says the government is demanding too much sacrifice.Greece has pledged to stick to a strict savings program, in exchange for billions of euros in bailout aid from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund - money that Athens desperately needs. The debt crisis has also been bad news for Greece’s education sector. Many schools in the country are on the verge of closing down. Textbooks are in short supply, and teaching jobs are being cut.
