For the tenth year in a row, NE TIGER opens China Fashion Week.
The fashion house presented their new haute couture collection "Tang, Jing" which featured replicas of clothes worn during the Tang Dynasty.
Strutting to the sounds of Buddhist music, 38 models showed a wide range of luxurious gowns.
Zhang Zhifeng, who founded the brand 19 years ago, says he wanted to feature the Tang culture in the collection.
SOUNDBITE: Zhang Zhifeng, designer, saying (Mandarin):
"The collection is to showcase the graceful bearing of Tang Dynasty. I was greatly inspired when I listened to some Chinese historians talking about Tang stories. Tang Dynasty was so prosperous in many ways that it still has influence on Chinese society even today."
While European and American fashion designers are feeling the pinch from the economic crisis, the number of millionaires in China is rapidly expanding - which has led to an expanding market for couture in the world's second-largest economy.
SOUNDBITE: Zhang Zhifeng, designer, saying (Mandarin):
"The haute couture industry in China is developing vigorously in full swing without any signs of slowing down. This is out of my expectation. I thought my haute couture would live only within a small group of people, but now it is expanding very quickly. Consumers become increasingly fond of Chinese traditional culture."
China Fashion Week will last for ten days.
