Pros And Cons of Coffee Vs. Tea - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Today I am going to talk about the pros and cons of coffee and tea. Actually, there are very few cons concerning coffee and tea. As we all know, if you drink too much regular coffee or tea with caffeine in it, then people who are susceptible are going to have a bad reaction. They are going to be jittery, they are going to be irritable, they are not going to be able to sleep and they will generally feel miserable. But if you keep the amounts to a minimum, 1 or 2 cups a day of either the coffee or the tea and you also have the option of drinking decaffeinated versions. So coffee and tea actually are very good for you because both of them contain antioxidants which are very healthy for the body. So, tea, especially green tea, has many health benefits. As I mentioned before, the antioxidants are terrific and green tea is filled with them, especially one called epigallocatechin gallate, or EGCG which is a very powerful antioxidant. It is even stronger than Vitamin C and E and has many benefits. Among them, it helps reduce several cancers including breast cancer, colon cancer, lung cancer. It is a very powerful antioxidant. It is also really terrific for weight loss. It increases the metabolism and you can drink 2 or 3 cups a day, especially if it is decaffeinated, you can even drink more and see if it revs up your metabolism for weight loss. Coffee is also very healthful and I know people think that it is very evil, but it really is full of antioxidants in and of itself, and the more studies they have done, the more benefits they have found. Besides the antioxidant benefits, it does things like control your blood sugar, so it can actually help prevent type 2 diabetes. It helps the gallbladder. It prevents gallstones. It keeps the bile which is in your gallbladder flowing, so the stones do not form. There is also been some research on how it may be helpful in preventing Parkinson's disease. So whether you are drinking coffee or tea, be it black tea or green tea or oolong tea, enjoy it. Make sure it is decaffeinated if you have a problem with caffeine, and do not screw up all the goodness by adding lots of sugar.
