CSR Minute: SAP Reports Sustainability Savings of 185M Euros

SAP, which releases quarterly sustainability updates, has announced a savings of 185 million euros from 2008 to date as a result of its sustainability initiatives. The company arrived at the cost avoidance figure by comparing current operations to a “business as usual” projection based on 2007 numbers. The savings was achieved through a variety of efforts, including investments in energy and carbon efficiency projects, changes in employee behavior, and the use of electricity from renewable sources.

The Sustainability Consortium, TSC, has approved the first round of life cycle assessments and rules for calculating environmental footprints for seven different product categories.
