If you do not have a debit card, it means that you have to carry cash around everywhere with you. Debit cards are convenient. The banks are located everywhere. I think it is a great way to manage cash. That being said, I think I would not have a debit card if I had a spending problem. If it was just too tempting for you to go into a store, want to buy something, and then dash over to the bank to get cash out, or use it as a credit card to buy something, because it does have the credit card feature. So, yes, for the most part I think they are great with a few exceptions, and that is people that do not know how to manage their money real well.
