China's $33 billion dollar high-speed train link from Beijing to Shanghai was brought to a standstill on Sunday after thunderstorms brought down the power supply to part of the line.

Frustrated passengers posted complaints online about the stifling conditions in the train after the air conditioning and lights stopped working.

The power cut lasted about 90 minutes and halted 19 trains, the Beijing Railway Bureau said.

The Beijing-Shanghai train was launched just 10 days ago, amid claims of corruption and safety concerns.
