BCAA Big 8 Girl's County Championship - Nova High vs South Broward High

For one shining moment, South Broward reserve Priscilla Fenty went from unsung, defensive-minded 6-0 forward to unlikely offensive star.

With the BCAA Big 8 girls’ basketball championship hanging in the balance at Deerfield Beach High on Saturday, Fenty scored all nine of her points in the fourth quarter to help the Bulldogs (21-3) earn a hard-fought 49-42 victory against Nova.

Fenty, who also pulled down eight rebounds, was rewarded for her career night by being selected to her first all-tournament team.

“It was good to know my team was behind me, and I wasn’t going to let them down,” Fenty said. “Everybody on the bench knew we needed to contribute. It was rough and physical out there. We were determined not to let down.”

Fenty and tournament MVP Kiara Shoats, who scored seven of her 10 points in the fourth quarter, spoiled Nova’s bid to end what became five consecutive years of coming up short in the Big 8 final.
