Scorching heat and rising summer temperatures are continuing in northern India today. Temperatures are topping out over 100 degrees Fahrenheit... but tourists in the region say their vacations won't be spoiled by Mother Nature.

Rising mercury levels in northern India are proving to be a major let-down for the tourism industry.

In the last two days, many places in north India recorded temperatures above 104 degrees Fahrenheit, troubling tourists.

The temperature in India's northern city of Chandigarh peaked at over 105 degrees on Tuesday.

[Nitin Phadtade, Tourist from Pune City, India]:
"Just two hours back in Chandigarh and I am feeling very hot. The weather isn't comfortable."

Meanwhile, visitors from Hong Kong say they are not too bothered by this persistent heat.

[Linger, Tourist from Hong Kong]:
"We live in Hong Kong where its much more humid, we sweat much more. Here it's more bearable."

According to the India Meteorological Department in Pune, the heat wave is a result of the prevailing pre-monsoon conditions in the country.

[P. C. S. Rao, Director, Meteorological Department]:
"Some places like Churu in Rajasthan and Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh have recorded temperatures over 117 degrees. In this pre-monsoon condition, this heat wave does exist."

For those who venture outside, about all they can do is to cover their heads and faces covered with scarves.
