The castle is quite old, built in the 10th century by the first king of Germany, Henry the Fowler. For about seven years during World War Two, Quedlinburg Castle served as a Nazi shrine. After the war, the castle was restored to its original state and remains an incredibly well-preserved piece of German history today.
