How to Do Pilates Neck Pull Exercise - part of the women's fitness video series by GeoBeats.

Hi, we're Kimberly and Katherine Corp. We own Pilates on Fifth in New York City, and we're going to show you the Pilates exercise, The Neck Pull. Now you should never pull on your neck. This exercise's name probably sounded better in German than it does in English, so do not pull on your neck. So just try that point home where we'll show you the modification with the hands at the front of the forehead. So Katherine will go ahead and lie on her back and she will bring her hands to the front of her forehead. Now you could do, show how you could do with your hands behind your head. Well we find that it does lead to people to pulling on their head. So lets all bring our hands to the front, and we'll also show the modification if you have trouble with this. So you separate the legs about hip distance apart and flex the feet. You can really reach energy out those heels. And here we go, we're neutral to begin. Inhale lift the head and shoulders, exhale coming up and you can reach your arms forward to give yourself a little boost on the way up. And you come over where your pelvis is vertical and your spine is flexed over. Inhale lifting up to sit nice and tall and then you can really work on the descent. Exhale roll back. So you want to think that somebody has your legs pulling them this way and you can work on articulating each vertebrate one at a time down to the mat. And here we go again, inhale lift the head and shoulders, exhale reaching forward if you need you to come up and over, its like a little beach bug here. Inhale lifting up to sit tall, you're going to slide your shoulders down your back, and then exhale rolling through, keep energy in the legs, that helps give you some stability on the mat. And we'll just do this one more time. Inhale lift the head and shoulders, exhale coming up, yupp! And rolling up and over that vertical pelvis. Inhale lifting up to sit nice and tall and then exhale reach through the heels roll down, placing one vertebrate down at a time keeping the elbows wide. Thank You. And that is the Pilates exercise, the Neck Pull.
