Sitting on Montjuïc hill in Barcelona is the Palau Nacional, which houses the world's greatest Catalan art museum.

Originally built in 1929 to host the World's Fair, the building is now home to the National Art Museum of Catalonia.

The building was inspired by Spanish Renaissance style, and features a central Roman dome surrounded by four intricate spires and two smaller domes.

There are ornate carvings to be found on the façade as well as the largest collection of Catalan art on the inside.

The museum contains works of art from Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and modern periods.

As a result of the 1992 Olympic Games, the building was remodeled to its present condition, and later reopened in 2004 with all works of art in place.
