When most people imagine horses they may think of a tall, dark stallion or even a draft horse, but try to imagine this... a horse the size of a small dog. That's right, "Little Harry" the horse, is not only the size of a Jack Russel but was born on his owner's birthday, making him the best present she may have ever received. This story from our local bureau in New Zealand.

If there was ever any such thing as a real life "my little pony" this would be it. Meet "Little Harry." Measuring 13 inches at birth, this pint-sized foal is New Zealand's smallest horse.

[Linda Hawkins, Horse Breeder]:
"He's like an old soul in this little body."

Born seven weeks premature on December 26th 2009, Little Harry was so small his breeder feared he wasn't going to survive.

But after beating all odds this dwarf miniature is now the star attraction at the Windsong stud farm in Tauranga, New Zealand, which has amassed 10,500 supreme champion show ribbons over the past 15 years for their horses.

[Linda Hawkins, Horse Breeder]:
"And they give people, not just kids, but adults, so much joy."

Although Harry now an estimated 21 inches tall falls short of the Guinness World Record holder "Thumbelina," an American horse who stands at 17.5 inches, Harry's still a legend in his own right at least in Kiwi land.

[Linda Hawkins, Horse Breeder]:
"Some people think they have more health problems, but they don't."

Little Harry is respected in the pack and can do pretty much anything his larger counterparts can, so for now he's just going to enjoy hanging in the paddock, being one of the boys.
