Carol and her father had finally arrived at the airport and headed straight for check-in with their luggage. “I was worried that we weren’t going to make it Carol, you’re such a slow poke!” “Oh Dad, you always exaggerate” said Carol. “Anyway, I’m not speaking to you. I’m still pissed off at you for not buying me the new clothes for vacation. You’re such a tightwad” she continued. “That’s not fair missy, I spent a fortune on this trip, you should be grateful” replied the father. “I’m not made of money you know”. “Dad, if you really loved me, you would have bought me the new clothes I asked for! I’m going to look like a freak and it’s all your fault!” Carol was a bit spoiled and very demanding. She was used to having her way but it seemed that this time she would have no choice but to wear her old clothes. But then she had a brainstorm. “Dad” Carol said to her father in a very sweet voice, “Would you please go and buy me some fashion magazines for the flight? I’ll check the luggage in” “Okay” he responded, “I’ll be right back” While her father was gone, Carol moved their suitcases away from check-in and left them in the middle of the terminal. “Here are your magazines,” said her father. “Have you taken care of the luggage?” “I sure have!” she answered enthusiastically. When they got to the baggage carousel in Bermuda, there was no sign of their luggage. “I don’t understand it” said Carol’s father. “Where are our bags? They can’t have been lost, there was no connecting flight” He was about to look for an airline representative to complain. “I have a confession to make.” said Carol with a grin on her face. “I wasn’t about to come all the way to Bermuda just to be seen wearing tired old clothes so I left our bags behind and now you’re going to have to buy me all new clothes! Ha ha!” “Well I’ve got some news for you Miss Smarty Pants.” The father responded. “Those bags you left behind were filled with new clothes, so I guess the joke’s on you!” “Really?
