In 1911 the last Yahi Indian, Ishi, walked out of the foothills of north central California. Praying mantis, butterflies, bald eagles, fossilized shells, assassin bugs, lizards, slugs, caterpillars, and ancient volcanic lava flows are just some of the things we discovered in this ecosystem.
