Six People Killed in Karachi Violence

It was a deadly scene on the streets of Karachi, Pakistan Monday. Several vehicles were torched and a slew of shootings left six people dead. Here's more on the story.

Pakistani police report that at least six people were shot dead and three vehicles torched in the commercial hub of Karachi on Monday.

Two people from the minority Shi'ite community, two from a religious Sunni group and two others affiliated to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were gunned down by unknown assailants in different neighborhoods of the city.

One of the victims was killed in crossfire when protesters from a Shi'ite funeral clashed with government security forces.

Later on Monday, unidentified people burned tires after torching at least three vehicles.

Karachi is the country's main port and financial centre. The city has a history of factional, ethnic, religious and political violence. More than a hundred people have been killed in targeted attacks since June of this year.
