US WWII veteran to be honoured in France

US Lieutenant-Colonel Roy Simmons was one two American pilots who risked their lives on August 22, 1944 when they bombed a Nazi convoy in Aveyron in southern France. The other pilot, Lieutenant Richard Hoy, and 23 French resistance fighters were all killed in the attack. Simmons will on Sunday be awarded the Legion d'Honneur -- France's highest civilian award -- for his role in the attack.Duration: 01:57
